We frequently undertake the inspection, appraisal and preparation of reports and recommendations on all types of properties encompassing a range of construction elements. from low-rise to high rise

STOCK TRANSFERS & LIFE CYCLE COSTS
A J Balfour & Associates have frequently been associated with large stock transfers we are also asked to provide, life cycle costs, generally 30 years, covering the structural elements, which are likely to require, inspection repair during the remaining useful life.
Additionally and prior to Local Government reorganisation we provided support services to Glasgow District Council for structural inspections on their large housing stock.

Visual inspection of 11No tower blocks using cradle access and fixed masted platform access.
This included the appraisal and preparation of reports and recommendations on essential structural repairs.

Visual inspection of 3No tower blocks using cradle access and fixed masted platform access.

Visual inspection and selected testing of concrete elements in 21No tower blocks.
This included the appraisal and preparation of reports and 30 year life cycle costs, with recommendations on essential structural repairs.

Visual inspection of 4 No 14 storey tower blocks of no fines construction.

 

Structural Inspection and Repair of Orlit Houses

Inspection and follow up repair contracts to defective concrete beams and columns on:

200 houses, Priesthill, Glasgow,

300 houses, East Balornock, Glasgow,

80 houses, East Dunbartonshire, (Winter 2008/09)

 

Structural Inspection of Steel Houses

Visual inspection of 50No Weir Phoenix non traditional houses. This included the appraisal and preparation of reports and 30 year life cycle costs, with recommendations on essential structural repairs.

Visual inspection of 2 sites of 200No Atholl Steel non traditional houses.

 

REFURBISHMENT / MODERNISATION

Associated with refurbishment of properties it is essential to carry out structural surveys and assessments, prior to design, therefore reference should also be made to other sections within the Practice Information

 

MISCELLANEOUS SURVEYS

We are frequently instructed by private individuals to carry out a structural inspection of their house, often as a result of something discovered while selling or buying the property.

As a result we have inspected many varied house types and reported on numerous defects, some of which may be trivial, others involving extensive repair or even demolition.
